Taken with my D90 which I got for Christmas! Lovely camera for the amateur who isn't a complete idiot ;)

Hudson Taylor and Gabrielle Aplin gig, Birmingham 2012
Jorge bought tickets to see Gabrielle a few months back and got me to take him, bribing me with the fact that Harry and Alfie were playing too.
Now I wasn't going to take my SLR as we've been arguing a bit of late, it's old, slow and doesn't always record every image (which was a problem, I previewed some really niiiiice images which then weren't saved!! >:/). But anyway, I didn't want to leave it in my car, which was parked down a side street so I brought him into the gig and had much fun photographing Harry, Alfie and Gabrielle. Although I think I annoyed some of the 14 year old tiny people around me :D
Here's what I've managed to edit so far, however I am on an XP right now and my RAW editing program doesn't like XP very much ;)

Although that lighting they used for Gabrielle was much much better (you may have noticed the reddish tint to the only colour image of Hudson Taylor) she was much harder to photograph, a) because she was shorter and therefore a lot of the images have the mic covering her eye or some other part of her face and b) she was generally more erm.... facially active? Which is great to watch because you see emotion, not so good to photograph because her face looks funny :s
Her face also freaked me out because she has the same basic structure as my friend Debby. In fact, the only real difference is their mouth and eyes.
Anyway, I had fun. I haven't photographed live music in a looooong time, since before I got into photography properly and I have to say I'd like to do it again. I had a night of that incorporated the two things I like best (3 if you include Jorge) and I enjoyed it very much, even though I had a splitting head ache :D
PEDO FACE!!!
And I had to include this picture from his duet with Gabrielle. Jorge thinks he was pissed(drunk), I just think he had a funny face xD
If you have no idea who these people are, they play very music and you should all go and listen to them :)

Photograph of the week #8: Out on the town.
I don't claim for this to be anything special, but I quite liked it so I thought I'd share.
When I finished work I saw these people chatting below me. Because I was on the top floor which was closed off, I could snap away and no one would notice. I mainly like the colours in this image.

Photograph of the week #7: Culture is dying
This lady was sitting in the V & A. I found it amusing to watch her sit there for half an hour as her kids looked round the museum and she sat there with her Tesco bags looking baffled and bored by everything. We look at our parents as guides and if most parents can't be bothered to show interest in culture or independent thought, why should we?

Photograph of the week #6: Catch them off guard!
This is Jorge. He doesn't look good when you ask him to smile (see image bellow), but when you catch him off guard he looks lovely. All natural lighting and little editing was required which is why I miss summer so much!
Oh dear :s

Photograph of the week #5: Making up for lost time
I know that I haven't posted images in months, so in a half arsed attempt to make up for it here's another image. This was also taken in London, I don't have much to say about it as there wasn't much thought in it if I'm completely honest, but I like it for the simplicity.
I have plenty more images that I can upload so don't worry about that and if you can't wait, go to my DeviantArt :) I upload there, but don't really talk about my image that much ;)
Two sites you should see
If you're bored, I'd recommend taking a look at these two sites if you haven't already seen them.
Life is the 21st centuries version of Life magazine, which had it's heyday in the 1960s. They have new images everyday and I find the site very easy to navigate. It's very inspiring to look at some of these images and it makes to want to go out and take more myself.
PhotoExtract. My friend showed me this a few days ago and although I like Life more, this is a nice site for images which aren't necessarily documentary. If you go to Plus extract you'll find a 'list' of images to go though :)
